Lousiville vs. Franklin County

Bright day in Jackson, the clouds that were around earlier have cleared up.  It's warm, the bands have taken off their coats and are in the stands in their jumpers.  Perfect day for football!!

8:41 in the 1st Quarter - Franklin received the ball, and are driving.  4th and half a yard, Collins qb sneak for a first down for Franklin County. 3rd and long and Franklin County converts.  On the 36 yard line of Louisville.

5:34 in the 1st Quarter - Dennis Thames of Louisville intercepted Collins of Franklin County makes a couple of cuts and picks up several good blocks and takes it back for a 67-yard interception return.  A great runback!  Extra point is good, Louisville draws first Blood

Score:  Louisville 7, Franklin County 0

3:40 in the First Quarter - Franklin County gets bold.  On a fourth and one on their own 45, they try a run up the middle and Louisville holds them.  Louisville starts on the Franklin County 45 yard line.  The Bulldogs stiffen up.  2nd and 9 at the Bulldog 29, too much time by Louisville.  4th and 4, QB Clayton Moore of Louisville runs for the first, fumbles, but they call him down.  Short!! Franklin County dodges a bullet!

Clouds rolling into Jackson, stadium lights are up now.

End of First Quarter

11:01 in the 2nd Quarter - Same song second verse.  Thames picks off Thames again and runs it back for another touchdown!  32 yards after the pickoff Collins waltzes in and with Louisville kicking the extra point they lead 14-0 without the offense scoring a point.

Score:  Louisville 14, Franklin County 0

7:47 in the 2nd Quarter - Clayton Moore (isn't he the Lone Ranger?) quick kicks the ball to the two yard line after Franklin County stiffens.  The Bulldogs are in a hole.

3:55 in the 2nd Quarter - 4th and 4 inches.  Franklin County is lining up to run it, probably a qb sneak.  On their own 26 yard line!  Franklin County gives a had count, Louisville jumped offsides, the Bulldogs get a first down.  Unable to get another first down, and Franklin County forced to put with 1:55 to go.

:55 in the 2nd Quarter - Sack by Franklin County 3rd and 8, and Thames runs for the 1st down, close.  Measuring for the first.  Four seconds left.

:04 in the 2nd Quarter - Going for it long?  No, run by Thames, 20 yards, but time is out.

Halftime:  Louisville 14, Franklin County 0

An interesting half, noted more for very intense play, with two mistakes the measure of the game.  Franklin County has been stymied by an intense Louisville Defense that has bottled up the Bulldogs and forced them to make those two criticals.

To their credit the Franklin County defense has not been disheartened.  They have played tough and have kept the Wildcats bottled up.  If the Wildcats make any mistakes the Bulldogs will be ready to take advantage.  Should be another great half of football coming up.

Start of 2nd Half - A funny squib kick by Franklin County that almost gets loose.  Louisville gets it in good field position.

10:39 in the 3rd Quarter - Henderson breaks for 15 yards, Louisville 1st down on the Franklin County 39, then Moore flips the ball to Dennis Thames, down to the Bulldog 16 yard line. 5 yard encroachment, swing pass to Thames, 12 yards touchdown!! Point after, fake!  But a dead ball call against the Bulldogs.  They may have dodged one;  that looked like a fake.  Now the Wildcats kick it. 9:59 left in the 3rd quarter.

Score:  Louisville 21, Franklin County 0

7:56 in the 3rd Quarter - Franklin County shows some life.  Alex Smith takes it 26 yards to the 14 yard line.  The Bulldogs have strung together 3 first downs after the kickoff by the Wildcats.  Louisville decided call a timeout.  Collins goes for a yard.  Collins right, stringing it out for no gain.  Third down and 9, and the Bulldogs get hit for a delay of game.  Collins airs it out to the endzone, off the fingers of Jarvis King.  Fourth down and 14, they go for it.  Collins gets rushed, tries to run for it but no soap.  The Bulldogs turn it over on the 14 yard line.

4:50 in the 3rd Quarter - Louisville dodges a bullet.  Moore throws one up that's almost picked off.  Third down, and a pass to the flat goes nowhere.  Fourth down and punt formation. Snap is very high and Moore barely pulls it down and punts.  Franklin County's ball.

Franklin County needs to play with a sense of urgency.  The last drive showed them to have some life but it's not enough.  They need to take this drive and make something happen.  Time is winding down, 3:42 left in the game, 18 minutes, more or less, left in the season.

3:01 in the 3rd Quarter - Damien Burnett makes a 22 yard run and the Wildcats make a touchdown saving push to get him out of bounds;  he was motoring down the sidelines and was on his way.  A 9 yard run by Burnett, now a 33 yard run by Collins, first down on the 7 yard line of Louisville.  Need to dot this I and shove it in.  Collins down to the one.  Collins runs it in, touchdown.  Bulldogs crack the scoring column.  Extra point good. 1:22 left in the 3rd quarter.

Score: Louisville 21, Franklin County 7

End of the Third Quarter

Getting dark in Jackson, and the game is getting more animated.  Louisville has grabbed a first down and are at midfield.  They chew up some more time and even if they don't score they'll put a major crimp in Franklin County's chances.

9:09 in the 4th Quarter - Moore took 5 shots trying for the first, but wouldn't fall down. Finally he's chased out of bounds.  Louisville makes a quick kick and gets it to the 9 yard line.

8:07 in the 4th Quarter - Collins makes a first down solely on guts.  He was tackled 3 yards short of the first, spun around and reached for the down.  This before a great run by Burnett who ran 8 yard north to south but 40 yards east to west.  No dice, Franklin County gives it up.

2:53 in the 4th Quarter - Franklin County tries for 4th and 10 and Louisville brings the whole bus after Collins.  They sack him an turn the ball over.  Louisville has the ball on the Bulldog 32 yard line.  Looks like the end is very close.  Franklin County is blitzing every play to try to disrupt the Wildcats.  1:14 left, Dennis Thames runs right.  Game looks like it's over.  Time out by Franklin County.  4th and 1 for the Wildcats, and Thames runs for 10, first down, and the coach gets the gatorade.  Game over.

Final Score:  Louisville 21, Franklin County 7
